Queensland University Musical Societypowered by TidyHQ
QUMS is a community choir open to all members of the public regardless of age or musical ability, with no audition requirement. You don't have to be a UQ student or alumni to join! New members are always welcome, so come and try us out - we would love to see you there! More information is available here.
QUMS rehearses at the University of Queensland (UQ) St Lucia Campus, on Wednesday nights from 7.00 PM to 9.30 PM with a break in the middle. Rehearsals for Semester 1 2022 will be held in the Parnell Building lecture theatre, 07-234.
Our first major concert for the year was held on May 28th. It featured a selection of songs we've loved in the last five years, and so we've titled it Bangers and Mash - comfort food for the chorister.
Moving from the rousing to the reverent, at the end of October we'll pair Faure's Requiem with Vaughan Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem.
Between, before and after our major concerts, we will compete at Eisteddfod over Easter, sing Christmas carols throughout December, get away for a weekend of rehearsal camp, enjoy a post-rehearsal coffee each week, make new friends and have a lot of fun!
The fun doesn't stop this year, either - in first semester 2023, we'll perform a concert featuring works of Black and Indigenous composers, and semester two promises a video games concert.
